Geonetwork Basics

This tutorial introduces to a management system for geospatial data and services. GeoNetwork is widely used in Geospatial Data Infrastructures around the world.

This component allows for publishing and finding geospatial data and services with the help of their metadata. Various standards for catalogs/schemas are supported and will be validated within the system.

This workshop uses the official introduction, description and documentation of GeoNetwork, which can be found at http://geonetwork-opensource.org/manuals/2.10.3/eng/users/quickstartguide/index.html.

The content and its flow has been adopted for this workshop in a way that an introduction to service-oriented mapping is possible.

The workshop does not have the intention to give a detailed software insight for GeoNetwork, but to introduce to the paradigm of service-oriented mapping.
